Restaurant meals are where most food logs go to die. You don't know the recipe, the portion or the oil. The restaurant usually does, and it's printed on the bill which dishes you had.

## The receipt is a better record than your memory

By the time you're home you remember "some kind of chicken bowl and a drink". The receipt remembers "Chicken Burrito Bowl, extra guac, Mexican Coke, 1:42 PM", with the restaurant's name at the top.

That's everything an assistant needs.

## What happens when you send it

> Log my lunch (photo of the receipt). I had all of it.

1. ChatGPT or Claude reads the receipt: the restaurant, each item, the modifiers.
2. It looks up the restaurant's own published nutrition for those items. Chains publish calories and macros for every menu item, often down to the add-ons, and the assistant can search the web for the exact numbers.
3. It adds up the meal and logs it to Nexus, item by item.
4. Your day card updates with the meal and your new totals.

For an independent place with no published nutrition, the assistant estimates each dish from the name and the cuisine, the same way it does from a plate photo. You can send the plate photo along with the bill for an even better estimate.

## Why nobody else can do this

A calorie app would need a restaurant database, a receipt parser and web search, all wired together. Nexus doesn't build any of that. It sits inside ChatGPT and Claude, which already read images, already search the web and already know what a burrito bowl is. Nexus is where the result goes: a real log with dates, totals and a card you can edit.

Every time the models get better at reading, searching or estimating, Nexus gets better on the same day, with no update to install.
